The Frigidaire GMBS3068AF is one of the most popular built-in microwaves on the market. Let's walk through the trim kit options for this microwave — what Frigidaire offers, when those kits work, and when they don't.
The Microwave
The Frigidaire GMBS3068AF is a 24" built-in microwave from the Gallery series. It measures 13-5/8" H x 24-7/16" W x 19-5/8" D, with a 2.2 cu. ft. interior and 1,100 watts of power. It comes in Frigidaire's Smudge-Proof stainless steel, and it's designed to be installed in a cabinet or wall opening with a trim kit that gives it a finished, built-in look.
The OEM Options
Frigidaire makes trim kits in two widths for this model:
- GMTK3068AF — the 30" kit. The frame measures 30" W x 18" H, and it runs around $257 at most retailers.
- GMTK2768AF — the 27" kit. Same frame height, narrower width. Similar price.
Both are stainless steel, and both come with the hardware for installation — a front frame assembly, an exhaust duct, and a bottom mounting rail. Frigidaire also makes black stainless versions of both kits (GMTK3068AD and GMTK2768AD) if your microwave is the black stainless model.
What Has to Be True for the OEM Kit to Work
The OEM kits are built around one assumption: that your cabinet opening matches Frigidaire's specified cutout dimensions. When it does, the kit works the way it's supposed to. The exhaust duct and mounting rail position the microwave in the opening, and the frame covers the gap around it cleanly.
When your opening doesn't match, things fall apart quickly. If the cutout is taller or wider than spec, the microwave won't sit centered in the opening — and the frame won't cover the full gap. There's no adjusting your way out of it. The frame is the size it is.
The other issue we see constantly is adjacent cabinetry. The OEM frames are 18" tall, and that height has to go somewhere. If you've got a drawer or door directly below the opening, the frame may interfere with it. Same story above. A lot of kitchens simply can't accommodate the frame as designed, even when the cutout width is fine.
And then there's the replacement scenario. If this Frigidaire is going into an opening that was originally built for an older, larger microwave — which is very common — the existing cutout might be 33", 36", or wider. Neither the 27" nor the 30" kit will come close to covering it.
